Your harvest sharing this year can support children in desperate need, in places like Uganda, Kenya, Angola, Ethiopia, Liberia and Zimbabwe, as well as provide relief in emergency situations - both for the immediate emergency and the ongoing support needed in months and years ahead.
Harvest fundraising focuses on the most basic needs; food every day, clean water and warmth at night. The charity is grateful for all donations that meet this objective, whether they are Gifts in Kind or monetary support.
Monetary donations are crucial to enable the charity to ship the donated goods. The minimum value of goods in a container Feed The Children (UK) sends is at least ten times the shipping costs, so the value of this approach to helping vulnerable people is clear. The last 40ft container Feed The Children (UK) sent to Uganda contained a massive £325,000 of aid.
People do ask Feed The Children (UK) whether it would be more cost effective to purchase the goods in the destination countries. More often than not the goods are not available or are in short supply in those countries. Even if they are available Feed The Children (UK) could not have bought £325,000 of aid for £8,000 – so this is a very effective way of giving life saving support to those living in abject poverty. Feed The Children (UK) also has recycled goods that help the environment as well.
We welcome the following gifts:
All food should have a best before date more than twelve months ahead. We regret that we are unable to accept out of date food, fresh food, or packs that have been opened.
Please check that you are able to deliver your goods to our office or collection points, as we are not able to collect from you. Please see our list of regional collection points.
Additionally, if you would like to help us ship the containers to where they are needed you can either send us a cheque or donate on line. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support you can give us this Harvest Festival.
The children shown on this page are just a few of those your harvest festival could help - could you fundraise for Feed The Children (UK) this year?
Seven year old Adah is one of over 14,000 children in rural Uganda who is receiving a nourishing meal at school everyday.
These boys are hiding from the conflict in Afghanistan. They have made themselves a shelter - in a hole in the ground.
Neelam lost more than her home in Pakistan's earthquake - she also lost her left leg. Feed The Children (UK) is providing medical care and rehabilitation, along with food and transport for her many hospital visits. She will need a new artificial leg every year until she is fully grown.
