HARVEST FESTIVAL AT GREAT KINGSHILL SCHOOL

BIG-hearted pupils at Great Kingshill School in Cryers Hill Road, High Wycombe have donated dozens of packets of food to help poor and hungry children in the world this harvest. Kind youngsters at the school handed over pasta, rice and dried fruit to support Feed The Children (UK) on Friday, 16th October. They also held stalls to sell many other food items to their mums and dads, teachers and classmates to raise £80 for the Berkshire charity.
Headteacher Roger Dodds said, “It is wonderful to be involved with Feed The Children as it is a charity very close to our hearts. We have had two members of staff who have been to Africa helping street children and at an orphanage. We are very fortunate and it’s important to drive that fact home to our children so they understand it’s not that easy in other parts of the world and it’s nice to be able to help other children.”
During a special assembly the children heard about how much of the food they had given would be going to feed children in Uganda. They also sang songs and read poems expressing thanks for the food they eat and the importance of sharing at harvest.
Brian Main, chief executive for Feed The Children, said, “The children at Great Kingshill have been tremendous and we cannot thank them enough for their kindness and support. Their thoughtfulness and generosity will help benefit so many children and their families who face hunger and poverty every day of their lives.”
